The Honorable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has reiterated that the essence of the 1,000 jobs per local government initiative of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration may be defeated if the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, were to select the beneficiaries as being speculated.

The Minister who stated this in a message he personally signed, today, maintained that the scheme was to be handled at various local government areas as against the NDE state offices.

While urging Nigerians to disregard the misleading message, Kayemo said “kindly disregard all messages directing people to go to NDE offices to register for the Special Public Works.

This will breach COVID-19 guidelines and it will not ensure we strictly achieve the 1000 per LGA. The selection will be done from LGA to LGA, not in States’ NDE offices”.
