COMMENTARY: Grand International Conspiracy Against Nigerians and The Treasonableness of Silence

…the need to create, sustain a better narrative!

By Ime Silas

It is no longer hidden that there’s a grand plot by a huge number of international community actors with active connivance of some unpatriotic and greedy Nigerian citizens, especially businessmen, politicians and others, to perpetuate what has been recently defined as ‘modernized slavery’ in Nigeria.

These International actors, leveraging on their collaborators’ greed and myopism, are bent on ensuring that Nigeria remains underdeveloped so as to continually depend on some paltry donations and insulting aids from international community and organisations.

These greedy and myopic Nigerians, especially the politicians are given some monetary rewards either directly or indirectly, with most coming by way of jobs and professional patronages. Some are promised investment opportunities and citizenship abroad, whereby they could relocate their families thereto.

But I ask: how many of their immediate and extended family members can they relocate abroad?

The politicians are discretely sponsored to contest elections, mostly into the different strata of the Legislature through which they make, or support the making of inhuman laws that serve the International sponsors’ interests. They act with impunity, having as their motivations what have been made available or pledged in their favour. For instance, there’s an ongoing investigation on how certain laws have been made with a view to allegedly undermine Nigerians’ right to their God-given body organs.

Even Nigerian journalists, opinion leaders and Social Media influencers have been co-opted into the satanic plot. Journalists no longer derive pleasure and satisfaction from investigative journalism which was the pride of our journalistic forebears. Even at Press Conferences and media parleys, Nigerian journalists of today refuse to ask prodding questions so as not to offend the organizers of such media briefings.

Recently, we read on how a respectable and notable investigative Nigerian journalist; Mr. David Hundeyin was allegedly ‘bribed’ by an international NGO to write damning articles against the newly-built Dangote Refinery. Up until today, there has not been any trace of the Nigerian security’s efforts at investigating the allegation with a view to sanctioning the perpetrators.

On the other flip, the greedy business men and women have been conniving with International culprits to manufacture substandard products like drugs, beverages, petroleum products, vehicle parts, etc, and shipped them into the country. If these are not inhumane as well as economic sabotages, I wonder what are.

There have also been reports of seizures of large caches of deadly weapons illegally imported into the country with no trace of conviction of the culprits. Where these weapons find their ways into the hands of Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers, killer herdsmen, inordinate agitators, etc, they maim and kill innocent and unarmed Nigerians.

Furthermore, within one year, the price of petrol has risen from N198 per litre to N1,300 per litre, causing untold hardship across the land. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other bodies saddled with the responsibilities of ensuring that the refineries in Nigeria start refining petroleum products in order to end further importation and dependence on international refineries, have failed Nigerians.

To make matters worse, the NNPCL and other petroleum regulating bodies are even the ones trying hard to sell some satanic narratives, one of which being that even if all our refineries could be functional, the price of petrol would not be reduced.

There have been serious sabotage against the resuscitation of our ailing government-owned refineries, as well as intentional plot against the successful establishment and operation of privately-owned refineries.

Versed with knowledge of the tremendous benefits of having our refineries working in Nigeria, the International actors stop at nothing in their conspiracy to throw in spanners.

It still remains a mystery why the leaders are not ashamed that Nigeria is the only OPEC-member country without a functional refinery. More worrisome is the fact that countries like North Korea with no crude oil deposits, have refineries and are selling refined petroleum products to Nigerian government, who buy and resell to Nigerians via the NNPCL which is the sole importer of petroleum products into the country.

Meanwhile, the benefits of our refineries working optimally are humongous. There will be less need for foreign exchange up to about forty percent thereby strengthening our national currency, the Naira.

Apart from availability of employments for our unemployed youths, there’ll be numerous byproducts of the refineries’ operations for domestic consumption and exportation. There will be less dependency on politics as the only source of the citizens’ income, thereby reducing corruption.

There will be reduction in cost of governance as most youths who depend on demeaning ‘PAship’ and ‘SAship’ to political office holders for survival, would be gainfully employed.

There will be more revenues to governments at all levels because these springing companies would pay taxes to governments even as the working class would get their taxes deducted from sources.

All-round economic boom would be guaranteed via upsurges of investments in real estate and other facets of the economy. Citizens’ lives would be meaningful and life expectancy will be improved far beyond the current state of abysmality.
