…as officers exhume two corpses in Mbo
Mr. Waheed Ayilara, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State has been confirmed dead.
Sources say he died in the early hours of today, Thursday, August 29, 2024 after undergoing a medical surgery for prostate cancer at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
Ayilara resumed as Police boss in Akwa Ibom State few months ago. The police authorities in the state have yet to issue an official statement on the development.
Meanwhile, a police source in the state has confirmed that two out of three corpses of victims murdered by militants in Unyinghe, Mbo local government area have been recovered. Our source said that some vital organs of the exhumed corpses such as heads, were missing.
Our Reporter who was monitoring the development gathered that the riverine areas of the State have been under siege in recent times by men of the underworld.
It was gathered that some of the suspected militants who were arrested, led the security operatives to where their victims were buried in shallow graves.
