A delegation from the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) paid a courtesy visit to former Presidential Adviser, Senator Ita Enang, on Tuesday at his office in Abuja.

Led by the National Chairman, Engr. Alhassan Abdu Mohammed, the delegation expressed their appreciation for the Senator’s recent lecture delivered during the Fellowship Conferment on June 29, 2024, in Abuja. The lecture, which focused on “Protecting Intellectual Property in Mechanical Engineering – A Legal Framework,” has notably influenced government policy, particularly in the petroleum refinery sector.

The visit aimed to recognize Senator Enang’s contributions and explore further opportunities for collaboration, especially in light of NIMechE’s upcoming conference in Akwa Ibom State in October 2024, where the Senator has been invited.

In his response, Senator Enang urged mechanical engineers to use their technological expertise to advance agricultural mechanization, petroleum technology, and intellectual discourse in Nigeria. He expressed his gratitude for the visit and affirmed his commitment to partnering for the growth of engineering in the country, supporting the efforts of the President Tinubu-led administration to revive the economy for the benefit of all Nigerians.

Senator Enang also confirmed his attendance at NIMechE’s forthcoming Annual General Meeting and International Conference in Uyo. He promised to work closely with the event organizers and expressed his willingness to deliver a keynote address at the events.

The delegation included notable members of NIMechE, such as Engr. Dr. Ekerete Usak FNSE FNIMechE, National Executive Member; Engr. George Iluno FNIMechE; Engr. Emmanuel Alfred MNIMechE, National Executive Member; Engr. Teeser Kasso FNSE FNIMechE; and Engr. Udeme Akpan MNIMechE, Executive Secretary.
