…eulogizes Uko Umoh for exemplary leadership

Acting Chairman, Etinan Local Government Council, Hon Lawrencia Etuk has pledged to follow the footsteps of her immediate-past boss and PDP Chairmanship candidate in the October 5 local government election; Hon Uko Umoh in running the affairs of the Council within her short time in office.

Hon. Lawrencia who made the pledge today, Monday, September 9, 2024, while speaking at the Council Secretariat’s Millennium Hall, Etinan, noted with delight the turnout for the September edition of the monthly Solemn Assembly.

She said “I must say that I am very delighted to see this number of people come out to attend today’s Solemn Assembly. It is the first to be attended by me in my capacity as the Acting Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council.

Let me thank the Almighty God who gave us good people as Council Chairmen. One of such people is Hon. Uko Umoh, my immediate-past boss who resigned last week to contest for the substantive Chairmanship of Etinan. It was during his tenure as Transition Chairman that this Solemn Assembly formally became a monthly spiritual event.

As the Acting Chairman, I will not only follow his footsteps in sustaining this programme, I will also follow his template of transparency, dedication and commitment in running the affairs of the Council within my short tenure in office”.

Speaking on the import of the spiritual exercise and the need for everyone to take it seriously, the Ag. Council Boss testified of how she nearly lost hope of living at a certain point in her life due to a very serious health challenge she had, but God delivered her.

While praying for victory for Uko Umoh in next month’s election, Lawrencia who doubles as Council Secretary also solicited the support of Council staff and the entire people of Etinan to enable her succeed in her new assignment.

Preaching on the topic ‘The Special Touch of God’, the Guest Minister, Pastor Friday Etuk admonished attendees to always put their hopes in God for divine interventions. Drawing his base from biblical scenarios where God showed up for His people, the clergy assured Christians of the everlasting faithfulness of the Almighty God.

Present during the Solemn Assembly were Head of Local Government Service; Mrs. Mercy Ntekim, Director of Finance; Mr Emmanuel Eyoh and Director of Administration; Dr (Elder) Isaac Udoaka.

Also in attendance were the Supervisors for Works; Hon Owoidoho Ekanem, Environment;

Hon. Nse Nda, Youths and Sports; Hon Godwin Ufot, Security;  Hon. Emmanuel Inyang, Political and Chieftaincy; Hon. Ene Etuknwa and Culture and Tourism; Hon. Ubong Udoekong.

Others were  Director – BPRS; Mr Inyeneobong Ekott, Director of SDEISC; Mr Ekomobong Akpan, Director of Agriculture; Mr Emmanuel Isong, leaderships and members of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and a host of others.
