CONGRATULATORY ADVOCACY MESSAGE TO AKWA IBOM AT 37
This message is to the government and good people of Akwa Ibom State as the State marks 37 years of Statehood, in Nigeria.
For 37 years, Akwa Ibom State has conceived developmental ideas to march her forward, trying to bring prosperity, wealth, peace and security to her people. The State has had her own fair share of challenges, and within this period, has been able to establish and sustain institutions of State to realize the purport of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, particularly Chapter II of same.
While acknowledging the achievements so far over the years from various administrations, both military and civilians, the Akwa Ibom Human Rights Community notes the various challenges of Statehood confronting the State, but salutes the courage of the Governor Umo Bassey Eno’s determination to surmount these challenges. The understanding and cooperation of the people of the State, estimated to be close to 8 Million persons, to jumpstart and sustain the socio-economic, political and cultural milieu of the State for Development momentum in the State.
Akwa Ibom State has become one strong entity of unity in the committee of nations in Nigeria. The State should experience peace, love, development, justice, progress and equity under the leadership of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno. The Human Rights of individuals and communities must be identified, respected and promoted. Akwa Ibom is too small an entity, to be poor.
We must collective seek and promote justice for indigenes and residents of the State. This what the creed of the State projects.
On this momentous occasion of our 37th anniversary, Akwa Ibom Human Rights Community extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Akwa Ibom State Government for your unwavering commitment to the progress and development of our beloved state. We also congratulate the good people of the State for surviving the tough circumstances the people have been put through by the reality of the Nigerian situation. But, we trust that His Excellency, the Governor of the State will through his programmes discourage the weaponization of poverty and hunger, and strengthen institutions to create conducive environments for improved welfare and security of the people.
Focus should be more on human capital development, realization of the Ibom Sea Port, promotion and sustenance of industries, strengthening structures for functions, inclusion of civil society organizations in the development paradigm of the State amongst others. As a civil society organization, we appreciate the Governor’s efforts in promoting good governance, transparency, inclusivity, and community engagement. Inclusion.
As we celebrate this milestone, we encourage continued collaboration between the government and civil society to address the challenges facing our communities. Together, we can build a more prosperous and equitable future for all Akwa Ibom people and Residents.
