Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has called for cooperation from his constituents, for the timely completion of the Nnug Ikono Ufok-Ishiet Road reclamation project.

Speaking during a visit to the gully erosion site at Ituk Mbang, Uruan Local Government Area, on Wednesday, the Lawmaker, who revealed that contract for the project has been awarded to Alice and Daniel Construction Company, assured that work will commence at the site in less than one month.

While commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for his prompt response to the plight of the people, Rt. Hon Bassey said the project would be supervised by the State Ministry of Special Duties.

He also cautioned the people of the area against acts that may hinder speedy completion of the project.

“I had met with His Excellency last week concerning this site and today, he has directed that the project be handled by the Ministry of Special Duties for speedy completion. I am hopeful that work will commence here in the next few weeks. But I am appealing for cooperation and peace. We don’t want to hear any fight, placement of traditional injunctions (for settlement) or that a contractor has been kidnapped. We must all ensure that this project is completed at the right time,” he said.
