A man from Governor Udom Emmanuel’s home, ONNA Local Government in Akwa Ibom State, who claimed to be a close relation to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, has dragged Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Akwa Ibom State government to court for assault.

The appellant, Mr. Williams Orok Williams, an indigence of Awa Iman and a paternal cousin to the governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel alleges that Thursday, April 25, 2019, he honored an invitation from the governor to the Government House According to him on arrival, he was maimed, arrested and later detained at the Directorate of State Security, DSS facility in Uyo till Friday, April 26, 2019. He also alleged that his arrest was ordered by his cousin, the governor over incessant calling for assistance to become self-reliance.
However, Mr. Williams Orok Williams in his claims said that he has been seeking assistance from this cousin since he became the governor of the state.
How it started,
” on a Wednesday, April 24, 2019, a
a strange call came from a man who introduce himself as the CSO of the Government House that His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel wanted to meet with me by 3:30 pm the following day Thursday, we in the family were so excited that finally, God answered their prayers, on getting to the Government House the following day Thursday I was booted manhandled and thrown into a waiting white truck by two DSS officials and was taken straight to the DSS office along Nsikak Edouk Avenue, Uyo, and handed over to the state who asked me about my relationship with the Governor
which I told him
Mr. Williams said when he demanded to know
reason for his arrest as well as his treatment in
such a degrading manner the security officials said they were working on the instruction of the Governor
Mr. Williams said he was detained at the DSS facility from Thursday evening till Friday the following day without food or water, and subsequently released when the statement was recorded from him.
The condition for his release on bail was according to him by security officials, to undertake among others not to visit the Akwa Ibom State Government House for whatever reason till
Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration is over.
The case came up at the Federal High Court, Uyo on the 11th of May and was adjourned to the 20th of June 2023 to enable all parties to serve. The
