The Wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Patience Umo Eno on Monday, welcomed two New Year Babies at the Immanuel Hospital in Eket Local Government Area.

The First New Year Baby,  Female, was born to the family of Mr. David Jessie, of Awa Iman, ONNA, by 12:02am on New Year Day. She weighed 2.8kg at birth.

The second Baby,male, was delivered at 12:04am to the family of Mr. Isreal Etop of Esit Urua, Eket Local Government Area. He weighed 3.5kg.

The Governor’s wife extended gifts and cash to the babies and their parents and prayed for God’s protection and blessing for the new year babies and their families.

To the First New Year baby, Pastor Patience said: “This star baby has been born on a very significant day which is the New Year Day and her birth will always bring sweet memories to your family. She will always be the first in all she does. God has brought her to bless you.”

The first lady also extended gifts and cash to other mothers at the maternity ward and paid hospital bills for Miss Gift Emmanuel, who delivered her baby three weeks ago but was not discharged due to lack of funds.

She extended the greetings of the  State Governor,  Pastor Umo Eno, to the new mothers, saying that he is committed to the welfare of Akwa Ibom people.

In appreciation, the mother of the first New Year baby, Peace Morrison, speaking on behalf of other mothers, poured her heartfelt thank-you to the State First Lady, Pastor Patience Eno, for visiting the hospital to bless their babies with gifts.

She prayed God to guide, protect and reward her labour of love for them.

The Wife of the Transition Committee Chairman of Eket Local Government Council, Mrs. Maryanne Tommey, Wife of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Bright Archibong, and Wife of the Paramount Ruler of Eket Local Government Area, Obongawan Mandu Abia, appreciated the Governor’s wife’s motherly disposition to the women of the area, saying her visit to the new year babies has given joy not just to the nursing mothers, but the entire women of Eket.

The Chief Medical Director of Immanuel Hospital,  Dr. Idongesit Itaketo, said that the babies of the year represent a new beginning and the hospital is happy because the babies were delivered with no complications.

The Governor’s wife later visited a baby girl , daughter of Mr & Mrs Sylvanus George who weighed 3kg and was born at 12:10am at Cottage Hospital, Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
