The Akwa Ibom State Government will on Monday, 17th April, 2023 kick start its annual pensioners verification exercise for retired civil servants in the state.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary and Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State – Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien indicates that the verification exercise has been segmented into the three Senatorial Districts of the state to reduce stress of coming over to Uyo by the Pensioners.

The exercise which will commence with Eket Senatorial District is billed for Monday 17th April through 19th April, 2023 at the respective sub-treasuries making the Senatorial District.

The statement has it that, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is slated for 25th through 28th April 2023 at the various sub-treasuries making up Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, while that of Uyo Senatorial District is scheduled for 3rd through 5th May 2023 at the respective sub-treasuries that make up Uyo Senatorial District.

Pensioners under Uyo Sub-treasury who would be screened between 9th – 22nd May, 2023 at the ICT Resource Centre of the Accountant General’s Office, have been segmented into the Pensioner’s various banks to avoid overcrowding and for easy management.

The schedule according to the Permanent Secretary is as follows:

9th and 10th May, 2023 First bank.
11th and 12th May 2023, United Bank for Africa.
15th and 16th May 2023 – Union Bank
17th May 2023 – Zenith, WEMA, Stanbic Bank, Sterling Bank, Mutual Alliance, Heritage Bank, Unity Bank and Keystone Bank.

18th May 2023 – GTBank, NACRDB, Akwa Savings, Fidelity, FCMB and Polaris.
22nd May 2023 – Ecobank and Access Bank.

Consequently, all the Pensioner’s are to appear for the verification exercise with their Pension Identity Card, Pension Authority letter, Letter of First Appointment, Letter of Confirmation of Appointment, White/Blue Paper and Retirement Letter.

Pensioners are please advised to appear in person for the exercise as screening would not be done by proxy.
