In today’s Nigeria, safety and security are two imperative issues that must be given optimum consideration for maritime businesses to thrive. Thus, for a State’s maritime environment to be conducive for business, its territorial waters must be free from criminals like sea pirates and kidnappers.

Yesterday, Akwa Ibom State Government reached another milestone as His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, inaugurated fourteen (14) patrol boats to enhance waterway security. This can simply be described as the translation of the Governor’s A.R.I.S.E Agenda in the area of maritime security which is his commitment to the expansion of water transportation and productivity, with support for maritime security, while ensuring the security of life and property in the State.

Some of the advantages of the current waterway security establishment by His Excellency, is that, it will strengthen security in waterways to attract investors. In other words, it is a guarantee by the State Government that Akwa Ibom coastal areas are secured for investors to come in and invest in the State, and this will play an important role in the State’s economic growth.

Waterways security will encourage people to use the waterway for transportation, it will also help greatly to increase revenue for the State and reduce piracy.

In conclusion, it is worthy to say that the recent security development in the State is another affirmation that Pastor Umo Eno, means peace and security.
