…to boycott ‘congress endorsement meeting’, tomorrow

By our reporter

Key leaders and stakeholders of a pro-Sen John James Akpanudoedehe group have asked its members not to attend a meeting of a faction of the group slated to hold tomorrow, Friday, August 6, 2021, our paper can authoritatively report.

The group, Akwa Ibom APC Coalition, AAC, headed by Archbishop Samuel Akpan, has been a major campaign organization for Sen Akpanudoedehe, who is the National Secretary, Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Our paper gathered from reliable sources that the factional meeting of AAC slated to hold tomorrow, August 6, 2021, at the Shelter Afrique residence of chief Godwin Afangideh in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, is reportedly planned to trick members to sign an already prepared communique endorsing the outcome of last Saturday’s ‘crisis-ridden’ Ward Congress of the APC.

It was learnt that the decision to boycott the factional ‘Afangideh’ AAC meeting was reached during a meeting of major leaders and stakeholders of the group held in Uyo today, Thursday.

Our sources who pleaded anonymity hinted that the AAC leaders and stakeholders were protesting the alleged hijacking of ward congress processes and materials by the APC National Caretaker Secretary, Sen Akpanudoedehe.

One of our sources said “…we have resolved not to attend the meeting slated to hold at Chief Afangideh’s house tomorrow (Friday). When we met today, the leaders and stakeholders of AAC unanimously agreed that since Sen. Akpanudoedehe has decided to pocket the party (APC) in the state, everyone must force him to realize that a tree cannot form a forest”.

He added “There was no ward congress anywhere in Akwa Ibom state last Saturday. So, because of the genuine outcries and protests by stakeholders and members of the party, what they (Akpanudoedehe and his men) are trying to do is to trick us to sign a communiqué purporting that the congress was held peacefully in the state”

It would be recalled that the Akwa Ibom state chapter of APC has been thrown into serious crisis following its ward congress held across the state last Saturday.
