Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has stood down the case between Young
Progressives Party, YPP, its Governorship candidate, Bassey Albert Akpan and Pastor Umo Eno, INEC and PDP challenging the election of Pastor Umo Eno as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

This came as the petitioners brought a witness that was not assigned to testify today and was objected to by all the Counsel to the respondents.

Paul Usoro, SAN and Barr Emmanuel Enoidem are Counsel to Governor Umo Eno, while Tayo Oyetibo, SAN represents the PDP. Offiong Offiong, SAN is Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC leading other Counsel.

They said they received the documents about the witness while in Court and needed time to study it to enable them investigate the document about the witness to be able to cross examine him after examination -in -chief.

The respondents Counsel argued that the case was adjourned to today for three witnesses, only for the petitioners to spring a surprise of another witness, whose document was not served earlier on them.

Leading Counsel to Pastor Umo Eno, Paul Usoro, SAN urged the Tribunal to stand down
the matter to enable them investigate the documents of the witness.
