The newly appointed National President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN); Mr. Bonny Nyong has promised to put the association on a smooth and efficient pedestal for effectiveness. Nyong, who hails from Akwa Ibom State is the Publisher of The Sermon Newspaper.

Nyong’s emergence is sequel to the recent suspension of the association’s President; Isaiah Benjamin in line with Article 15(c) and Article 23(a) of the SWAN statute.

In his acceptance speech which was contained in a Press Release dated January 10, 2024, which he personally signed, a copy of which was obtained by our paper, the new SWAN helmsman called on the Council Members to go about their statutory responsibilities and be properly guided.

The release reads thus: “Distinguished Members of the Full Council, I bring you warm felicitations from the National Secretariat of SWAN.

Events of the recent past were capable of retarding the continuous development and growth of our Association. Proactively, 2/3 Members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) have successfully managed and addressed these challenges by relying on Article 15(c) and Article 23(a).

I, Bonny Nyong, hereby accept this clarion call in obedience to our Statute and the book of authority that we swore to uphold, and the consciousness that such action is purely and entirely a NEC affair.
