Methodist Church Nigeria has announced the passing ontoeternal glory of their Emeritus President; His Eminence, Prilate Sunday Mbang.

The late Prelate Mbang who hailed from Akwa Ibom State was the first black President of the Methodist Church.

According to a press release signed the Secretary of the Church Conference; The Rt. Rev. Babatunde A. Taiwo, the late clergy died yesterday, May 16, 2023, after serving the Methodist Church for 44 years.

According to the release, Late Mbang was the first Patriarch’s Chaplain and Bishop of Tinubu. He was also the only person to be both Patriarch and Prelate.

The release also notes that the late Prelate Mbang was the longest serving Head of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, first Methodist President of Christian Association of Nigeria.

The release which also noted that the late man of God left behind the Church and his children, maintained that he will surely and sorely be missed by the church.
