Isantim Kenneth Okon has emerged the new Political Leader for Etinan Local Government Area.

The announcement was made by the Otuekong Sunny Jackson during a stakeholders meeting in Etinan having seen the antecedents of Isantim Kenneth Okon as a political facilitator of Etinan since 2020.

The meeting had in attendance critical political stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of the Council, Suvr Cletus Ekpo, Member Representing Etinan in the State Assembly, Barr Dennis Akpan, PDP State Auditor, Prince Ibanga Enoch, former Uyo Senatorial District Chairman Engr Billy Etuk, Former Chairman of Etinan – Obong Donald Uko, Board Member Akparawa Nse Ubeh and several others witnessed the blessing of Isantim Kenneth Okon as the new political leader of Etinan.

Speaking, Chief Sunny Jackson who until yesterday was the political leader of the area said, “this is the time which I believe that, when someone is getting older, must go back home from bush clearing early; and you must also look around to see who you will bless to take over. I have seen Kenneth Okon, I have examined him, and I believe he can lead and be the political leader of Iman Ibom people”.

Kenneth Okon in his acceptance speech, described Chief Sunny Jackson as the only Living Political Legend in Etinan and assured him that he would continue in promoting the unity of the Iman Ibom People.

“I want to tell you that I will continue to unite Iman; I have been doing it, God will guide me to do more. I will continue to interface with the government and other agencies to drive the development of Etinan Local Government Area. I want to appeal that we fight the stereotype that Iman people do not sell land. In Etinan now, we have strangers living in all the villages. This will drive the development of our land. Thank you for identifying the good work I have been doing. I pledge to do more”.

In his remarks, Barr Dennis Akpan celebrated Chief Sunny Jackson for relinquishing power voluntarily to Kenneth Okon as the new political leader. He further said that Isantim Kenneth Okon possesses leadership qualities that will continue to foster unity and development of Etinan.

Engr Billy Etuk, in unison with other stakeholders, applauded Chief Sunny Jackson for displaying love for the unity of Etinan. He also described Kenneth Okon as one who can efficiently handle difficult situations.

While giving a vote of thanks, the Chairman of Etinan, Cletus Ekpo said Chief Sunny Jackson’s voluntary relinquishing of power to Kenneth Okon for the position has made what would have been a brawl avoided.

Recall that in August 2020, Isantim Kenneth Okon was appointed as a Political Facilitator of Etinan Local Government Area.
