...suspects arrested, ammunitions recovered

In a significant breakthrough, the police in Niger State have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 295 rounds of live ammunition for AK-47 rifles.

The stash was discovered concealed within a poultry farm located in Sabon-Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State. Authorities believe the illegal arsenal was destined for Mangu, a town in Plateau State, before the perpetrators were apprehended.

According to the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, the operation led to the arrest of four suspects directly involved in the arms smuggling scheme. However, an unspecified number of individuals involved in the illicit trade managed to evade capture and are currently being pursued by law enforcement agencies.

The discovery underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat the proliferation of illegal firearms across the country, particularly in regions plagued by conflict and instability. The interception of such a substantial quantity of ammunition highlights the grave threat posed by the illicit arms trade and its potential to fuel violence and instability in affected areas.
