Rene Angelil met Celine Dion when she was 12 years old. He was hooked to her singing abilities and he immediately signed her.
The following year, he mortgaged his house in order to fund Celine Dion’s first album. The album turned out to be successful.
Celine Dion was born in Quebec, so she didn’t understand English language. Quebec is a French speaking part of Canada. Rene ensured that Celine Dion took English language classes until she became proficient in the language. He needed her to sing in English language in order to be able to break into the US market.
Rene’s efforts paid off as she was signed by Epic records and her first English album debuted in 1993. Rene Angelil doubled as her manager and husband, they got married in 1994. Rene and Celine relationship turned romantic when she was 19. Rene was 26 years older than her.
Celine Dion remained faithful to Rene when she became very successful. She didn’t let hypergamy get in the way of her relationship with Rene. She even canceled her concert several times when Rene was battling with cancer. They had three kids together.
Rene was diagnosed of cancer three times. He finally succumbed to cancer and passed away in 2016. They were married for 22 years.
Celine Dion is a good woman. She didn’t turn her back on her husband who took a chance on her when she became successful. Celine Dion was all about her voice and little or no revealing clothes. She was very feminine in her youth.
