…urges them to uphold good family values

It was another moment of pomp and merriment on Saturday, as Wife of the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mrs Queen Okon treated women across the eleven Wards of Itu LGA to an end of the year Get-Together.

The event which was also graced by her husband, Mr Akan Okon, saw the women smiling home with mouthwatering food items.

Speaking at her hometown in Mbiatok Itam, Itu LGA, venue of the event, the Commissioner’s Wife seized the opportunity to appreciate the women for their love and support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, promising never to let them down.

While also appreciating them for supporting her husband over the years, she told the women that the gesture was aimed at putting smiles on their faces, especially, during the festive period.

She urged the women to remain steadfast with the current administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel, raise their children in the fear of God and also maintain high moral standards in their homes.

On his part, the Commissioner who thanked the women for gracing the event in their large numbers, noted that the event was in line with the spirit of Christmas, which he pointed out is about giving and showing love.

He reassured them of government’s commitment to their welfare, especially, through the Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Pathway Initiative (FEYReP) of Mrs Martha Emmanuel.

Items donated to the women included bags of rice, groundnut oil, yam, spices, including cash.
