In further moves to curb the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19), Akwa Ibom State government has mandated the suspension of flight services by Ibom Air, effective from midnight of Friday, 27th March, 2020.

This was made known by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Udoh, in a statement today, Thursday.

“In response to the latest developments in the aviation sector in Nigeria, and taking into account the serious implications of the spread of the COVID-19 around the country, Ibom Air has been mandated to suspend all scheduled flight services from midnight of Friday 27 March, 2020”.

While noting that the announcement overrode an earlier one, which had directed the flight operators to suspend operations on Sunday, March 29, the Commissioner said “This announcement overrides an earlier directive for the airline to suspend all flight operations from Sunday, 29 March, 2020.

“The Akwa Ibom State Government advises all residents and citizens to continue to adhere to the Personal and Respiratory Hygiene guidelines earlier announced in the fight against COVID 19”.
