Wife of the Executive Chairman of Akamkpa local government council, Mrs. Enobe Bassey, today, 8th March, 2021, joined staff and women of Biase Plantation (Wilmar) in the celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD). The event was held at Calaro Estate, Mbarakom.

In her remark during the occasion, the Chairman’s wife noted that women’s role were enormous in building a better and safe society for all, especially now that Nigeria and the world are facing serious challenges ranging from sexual harassment, terrorism, kidnapping and dehumanization.

She stated that women must rise up to the challenge of overcoming gender inequality as they strove to achieve a better life through career choice and sustainable development plan that will promote societal peace.

Mrs. Enobe further emphasized the need for women to support the men in their daily struggle for the actualization of their goals and objectives.

On her part, the Chairlady, Calaro Gender Committee, Ekanem Asuquo, noted that women should be challenged on leadership positions by constantly and continuously doing their best and being alert for opportunities to grow.

She also advised women to desist from negative vices and abuse of any form such as domestic, work-related, sexual, physical and emotional violence.
