A police officer in Etinan, identified as Supol Adam, has arrested today, one Nsidibe against the Police order that nobody should be so arrested and detained during this period of restriction of movement.
The arrest, our paper learnt, is in connection with a land matter which the arrested person claimed belonged to him.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the said Supol Adam is a member of land racketeering gang operating in the area, who go about selling people’s land and threatening to arrest their victims.
Our reporter who visited the station found the said Nsidibe on handcuffs, with torn T-shirt, apparently beaten by the Supol Adam-led team of policemen.
As at press time, efforts by elder brother of the arrested person to secure his release, prove abortive as the IPO, Adam, was demanding money before his release.
It was learnt that the DPO, who was not on seat when our reporter visited, had directed Supol Adam to release the suspect, a directive he rebuffed.
