Ibiono Ibom People’s Conscience, a sociopolitical organisation with interest in economic empowerment, has appointed new officials in acting capacity to pilot their affairs.

Mr. Emmanuel Udoh was appointed as Ag President, while Okokon David emerged as Ag Secretary General. The group’s officials were appointed during their general meeting held in Uyo, last Sunday.

Addressing the press shortly after his emergence, the Ag President, Emmanuel Udo, while thanking members of the group for finding him fit to lead them, promised to carry everyone along throughout his tenure.

Responding to questions on the aims and objectives of the association, Udoh noted that their main aim was to ensure the socioeconomic well-being of their members. He maintained that empowerment of members shall remain the pivot of his administration.

He said “Ibiono Ibom People’s Conscience is a sociopolitical organization with a very strong interest in empowering our members to attain economic well-being. Our belief is that our people should be empowered economically. That is why we have adopted measures and strategies where we ensure that our members attain certain economic heights”.

Speaking on the political inclination, the Ibiono Ibom People’s Conscience helmsman hinted that their members are encouraged to participate actively in politics.

“Politics, apart from the governance aspect, also has the economic angle. That is why we encourage our members to participate actively in politics. We believe that if the right people are elected to assume political leadership, our people can be easily empowered. There are a lot of opportunities in government which can be accessed through politics”.

On 2023 and zoning of governorship seat in Akwa Ibom state, Udoh reasoned “Akwa Ibom has a zoning system that has been in operation since 1999. We have three Senatorial districts in the state, which are subdivided into federal constituencies.
2023 is the turn of Uyo Senatorial District. We are from Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency. So, Uyo Senatorial District stakeholders would sit down and decide which federal constituency it will be zoned to. Once that is done, our group will take a decision on who to support. Our decision shall be based on whether or not the interest of Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency is rightly protected”.
