…as Nkori Production kicks-off Ekamba Musical Night theatre
Akwa Ibom State Government will partner organized night life which gears at entertainment and relaxation for tourists and residents, as part of efforts towards Tourism development.
The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh stated this Friday night, during the maiden night theatre performance of “Ekamba Musical” by Nkori Production, held at Duellax Landmark Event Centre, Ewet Housing in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital..
Sir Charles Udoh said, with such organized night life theatre on weekends, fun-seeking tourists and residents will have where to find relaxation and comfort, after the long week workloads and stress.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in his Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, the Tourism Commissioner, said, in addition to boosting Tourism, the Nkori production is developing skills of budding artistes and providing them with gainful employment, as part of entrepreneurial development.
He commended the initiator of Nkori Productions, Mrs Ekaette Umoh, the GM, Ibom LED, for the laudable theatre organisation, which he said aligns with the ARISE Agenda development blueprint of Governor Umo Eno-led administration and pledged government’s support towards the growth of the theatre.
While acknowledging the symbolic names translation of the Production – “Nkori”, meaning Growth and “Ekamba”, meaning Big, the Commissioner urged all well meaning people to join hands with the initiator to grow the theatre and make it bigger for the benefit of the artistes.
Sir Udoh commended the artistes for the beautiful performance which was pleasurable to the eyes and soul and called on Public spirited individuals to emulate the initiator of Nkori by coming on board to restore night life in Uyo for the interest of tourists, emphasizing that the State is safe and peaceful for the growth of all forms and sections of tourism.
In her remarks, the initiator of Nkori Production, Mrs. Ekaette Umoh, GM Ibom LED had expressed joy over the coming to life of her dream to provide organized night life to Uyo to create opportunity for residents and visitors to let-off some steam from stress and workload on weekends after a whole long official week.
Mrs. Ekaette Umoh expressed appreciation to all her sponsors and guests for making the night performance a success and solicited for support to grow the theatre and develop the budding artistes.
The event attended by the parents of the initiator, the Clan Head of Ikono, Ikono LGA, Eteidung Okon Udoekpo and Wife, as well as the Director, Culture, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Comfort Anwana, witnessed goodwill messages by a Communication expert and Lecturer at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Dr. Udeme Nnana as well as the Chairman, Hotels and Tourism Board, Sir Ini Akpabio, among others.
