• As Uniuyo don set to present book on Etinan Institute

The Chief of Staff to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen and the former Military Governor of Ogun and Rivers States, Group Captain Sampson Ewang and 98 other outstanding alumni of the prestigious Etinan Institute have made into the institution’s Centenary Hall of Fame.

The 100 Centenary Hall of Famers will be unveiled on Wednesday, 8th December, 2021 during the presentation of the book, “A Hundred Years of Etinan Institute (1915 – 2015)”, written by Dr. Uwem Akpan of the Department of History and International Studies, University of Uyo.

The book, a product of a well and deliberate research carried out of passion for development and advancement of knowledge, is adjudged by eminent scholars to be more than a mere history of a century old institution of learning, but also a good reference material on the history of education in Ibibio land (Akwa Ibom/Calabar), and a mini encyclopedia for Christianity/missionary history, particularly of the Qua Iboe and Presbyterian churches.

Viewed in another perspective, the book is a channel through which the Etinan Institute speaks after a century. More than a hundred photographs which are over hundred years old, speaking of the school’s activities in the past one hundred years, are spread across the 541 pages of the book.

A statement from the Central Planning Committee for the unveiling of the book, invites the general public to the event which is billed to take place at the Assembly of the Institute.
