In order to generate more funds to enable a successful execution of the various projects and programmes, the Chairman, Etinan local Government Council, Hon. Uko Umoh has inaugurated the Etinan Revenue Committee with a charge to up the internally generated revenue for the Council.
Inaugurating the Four-member Committee headed by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Hon. Imaobong Michael on Monday, January 22, 2024 at his Etinan office, the Chairman noted that the success of most of the projects would depend largely on the effectiveness of Revenue Committee.
“We have a lot to do as far as this administration is concerned. Recently, we inaugurated a committee to go round and take stock of all the abandoned projects and assets of the government in all the wards and villages in Etinan.
The essence is to resuscitate, rehabilitate and complete, as the case may be, all of them and put them to use by the people in order to justify the essence of such projects. So, take your responsibilities seriously because the success of most of our projects would depend on your effectiveness. We need to increase our internally generated revenue”, Hon. Umoh urged.
Also inaugurated were Ekpedeme Ukpong as Secretary while Pastor Ubong Inyang and Joseph Essien are members.
In her acceptance speech on behalf of the Committee, Hon. Imaobong Michael, while thanking the Council Chairman for the confidence reposed in them, pledged to deliver as mandated.
She said “I am deeply honored to stand before you as the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Revenue Committee for Etinan Local Government Area. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my Boss the Chairman Etinan Local Government Council Hon. Uko Umo for entrusting me with this crucial responsibility.
I am committed to fostering transparency, efficiency, and innovation in revenue generation. Together as a team, we will work towards sustainable economic growth, ensuring that our local community thrives.
Thank you for this privilege, and I look forward to serving the people of Etinan with dedication and integrity”
Present during the inauguration were the Council Secretary, Hon. Lawrencia Etuk; Head of Local Government Service, Mrs. Mercy Ntekim; SA to the Chairman on Youths, Hon. Item Etuk as well as Directors and Heads of Departments.
The Committee’s terms of reference include to: identify all the markets in all the villages in Etinan LGA
-Identify all the market days accordingly.
-Invite village heads, community/ youth leaders for peaceful resolution of government participation in revenue generation.
-Create MOU between government and committees for smooth partnership of revenue generation.
– Make recommendations and reports of your findings to the chairman.
– Monitor and resolve issues emanating from sub committees and the public.
– Find a lasting solution to all market issues that are pending through out the villages in Etinan LGA.
