Chairman, Etinan Local Government Area, Hon. Uko Umoh, on Saturday, thumbed up the alumni of Saint Theresa’s Secondary School, Edem Ekpat, Etinan, for adding value to their alma mater.

Speaking during the inaugural gala night of the association held at Graceful Event Centre, Uyo, on Saturday, he emphasized the importance of such associations in the promotion and development of education.

Hon Uko Umoh, who was the Special Guest of Honour, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Imaobong Michael, appreciated members for sustaining the spirit of oneness and excellence propagated right from their days as school girls.

He also highlighted the importance of educating the girl child and saluted women for building the home and society as well as making tremendous impact in different fields of endeavours.

Hon. Umoh promised that his administration will make the promotion of education a priority.

The event which had ‘the impact of Old Students Association in the Development of their Alma Mater in Developing Countries’ as its theme, featured topical discourses and raising of funds for infrastructural upgrade of the institution.

Principal of the school, Mrs. Beatrice Godwin Umoh expressed gratitude for the old girls’ contribution, highlighting the newly completed girls’ hostel as a testament to their commitment.

Pioneer president of the association, Mrs. Christiana Egwunye passionately conveyed the association’s mission to upgrade the school.

She solicited for collaboration with Akwa Ibom State Government and ersonalities for comprehensive school renovation, aiming to restore academic excellence.

Akparawa Nse Ubeh delivered a keynote address, encapsulating the essence of the event. The gathering not only celebrated nostalgia but also ignited a collective commitment to the school.

The echoes of the evening resonated with hope and determination, as the STSS Old Girls Association, with unwavering community support, charts a transformative course for the alma mater’s future.
