…President Buhari mourns with family, Akwa Ibom

The funeral of a former Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Nsikak-Abasi Essien Eduok, who died recently at the of age 73 Years, has been fixed.

According to a release by the bereaved family, a copy of which was obtained by our Paper, Service of Songs shall be conducted by the United Evangelical Church, Mbak Ekpe, Ibesikpo Asutan local government area of Akwa Ibom state on Friday, February 26, 2021 by 5:00pm.

Funeral service, according to the family, is slated for Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Ibom Hall Grounds, Babangida Avenue, Uyo, by 10:00am, while interment will take place at his country home, Mbak Ekpe, Ibesikpo Asutan L.G.A.

The release further adds that thanksgiving service in honour of the deceased shall hold on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at the United Evangelical Church, Mbak Ekpe, Ibesikpo Asutan L.G.A. by 10:00am.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari in his message, has condoled with the family of the departed former Air Chief, describing his death as a huge loss to the nation, particularly all those he inspired and mentored in tactical air operations.

The release which was signed by Senior Special Assistant to the President, (Media & Publicity), Garba Shehu, stated, “The President joins the military in mourning the passing of the highly decorated former officer, who spent more than two decades updating his pilot skills in the United Kingdom, United States and then Soviet Union, returning to the country to share his experience with colleagues and younger officers.

“President Buhari commiserates with government and people of Akwa Ibom State, friends and associates of the deceased, affirming that he lived a life of service to the nation and humanity, with distinguished results in all endeavours,” and prayed for the repose of the departed soul and for God’s comfort over the family.
