Activist and Publisher of Sahara Reporters, an online Newspaper, Omoyele Sowore has called on Nigerians to join him tomorrow, October 1 as the nationwide protest tagged #FearlessINOctober kicks off. The planned protest, according to organizers is to demand for solutions to biting hardship in the country.
Sowore who returned recently to Nigeria, was not in the country during the last EndBadGovernance protests which started from August 1 to 10, 2024. It was held in some states including Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, etc.
On the planned October protests, the activist who posted on his social media handles said: “On October 1st for #FearlessINOctober I will be on the streets of Nigeria to join with other Nigerians in protesting the hardships, privations, hunger, unemployment, insecurity, and poverty that the Tinubu government has unleashed on the Nigerian people.
“Protests or Revolts are the only tool that a people have to voice their opposition to the anti people policies of their government. That right is enshrined in the gene everyone, and I have every intention to exercise that right on October 1stvand beyond.
I spent five of the last 6 years either in prison, detention, or confinement by the @OfficialAPCNg government, under trumped up treason charges that they were forced to withdraw.
“For those who wonder why I refuse to back down, or cower in fear, given the threats to my freedom and my life – here is my reply: I committed myself to the cause of fighting for the emergence of a better Nigeria three decades ago. I remain committed to that ideal
As long as I have breath in my lungs, and as long as my fists can be raised – I will continue to fight for the right of the Nigerian people to a decent life. I will continue to advocate for their rights to
good governance and I will continue to demand justice for all.
We will not relent until our point- by-point by demands are met.
Until the @officialABAT government meets these legitimate demands of the Nigerian people, we will not relent in our struggle until we win.
I invite you to join us on October 1st. We cannot be silent or indifferent, in the face of the sufferings and privations that the Nigerian people are going through”.
