Akwa Ibom State Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong, has lauded the Speaker of the State Assembly, Mr. Aniekan Bassey for his thoughtful and timely initiative aimed at “discovering, mentoring and supporting young Akwa lbom Entrepreneurs to financial greatness”.

Frank Archibong made the commendation at the December 2020 and January 2021 edition of the Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS), held at the Conference room of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Complex, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo on Wednesday February 3, 32021.

Mr. Archibong, said the initiative was thoughtful and timely since it was coming at a time when it became glaringly that entrepreneurship was relevant to the issue of youth unemployment in Akwa lbom State.

Mr. Archibong who was the Special Guest at the event maintained that fostering entrepreneurship was key to expanding employment opportunities for Akwa lbom Youths.
“In other words, RHAB-YESS is commended for its effort towards complementing Governor Udom Emmanuel’s successes in the area of creating jobs and increasing employment opportunities for youths
through Industrialization and Entrepreneurship Development”.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Elder Ini James Ikie, advised participants who are young Entrepreneurs that emerged as winners for the December,2020 and January, 2021 Editions to see Entrepreneurship as
very dynamic and demanding process.

“To become, grow and thrive as an
entrepreneur means navigating a continuum of events and stages that are influenced by many factors; It is only Entrepreneurs that persist, with tenacity of purpose, through the Gestation, Start-Up, and Early Development Stages of Entrepreneurship that eventually enter the Growth/Maturity Stage, where one
expands and maintains its market size and enterprise” he advised.

Also speaking, Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties, Mr. Okpolupm Etteh, said it was important to always think creatively and invest in our lives.

Etteh, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Elder Effiong Efiakedoho, appreciated the Speaker for expanding his benevolence and magnanimity beyond the scope of Uruan State Constituency which he represents to accommodate other young entrepreneurs in the State.

Etteh, added that the empowerment of young Akwa Ibom youths by the Speaker was an impressive landmark that will speak for the sponsor and beneficiaries.

Dr. Sunday Akpan, who was the Resource person from Centre for entrepreneurial studies, admonished beneficiaries to always consider financial Management skill, site and location as well as planing when deciding on any business investment.

Speaker of the State Assembly, who is the sponsor of the scheme and was represented by the Member representing Etinan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Aniefiok Denise, said the scheme is an act of sheer love, hardwork and result oriented representation which Speaker Bassey had assured.

High point of the event was Presentation of Certificates of participation and cheques to the 8 beneficiaries in the December and January Edition.

Present during the presentation were the Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Mr. Charles Iwat, Manager of RHAB-YESS, Mr. Godswill Bassey and Special Assistant on Media to Speaker, Mr. Darlington Udobong.
