…performs Groundbreaking for Leadership Academy
The wife of the Governor, Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel has called on the citizens especially women of the state to be dedicated and supportive in mentoring the young ladies.
Dr. Emmanuel made the charge during the Ground Breaking/ Foundation Laying Ceremony of the Martha Udom Emmanuel Leadership Academy by the Uyo Senatorial District Women, located behind the Tropicana Wet Park, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
Performing the ground breaking ceremony, the First Lady thanked God for the leadership of the forum for accepting the challenge she threw at them some years ago- “Draw up activities that will bring all the women both young and old together for proper upbringing and impartation”. And today, the forum has lived up to the expectation of the governor’s wife by laying a foundation for leadership training Academy for women. She further enjoined the women to participate in the building process within their capacity.
The Governor elect, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, represented by the Chairman Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) Prince Enobong Uwa, commended Her Excellency for leading the women to greatness and assured the forum of his support to completion of the project.
Speaking earlier, the chairman on the occasion, Rt. (Hon) Onofiok Luke, Member representing the people of Etinan Federal Constituency appreciated the Governor’s wife for her sterling qualities in leadership in the State and thanked the women of Uyo Senatorial District for their commitment towards making the efforts to raise an edifice to train young women in the state and beyond. He also promised to support the women till the project is completed.
The President of the Uyo Senatorial District Forum, Hon. (Dr.) Ekaette Ebong Okon expressed gratitude to God for bringing Her Excellency in such a time as this for the women of Uyo, noting that she has groomed the women to become better wives and mentors.
The high point on the occasion was the laying of foundation stone of the Academy by Her Excellency, Dr. Martha Emmanuel.
