Borno Fertilizer company, recently resuscitated by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, is set to resume production of 1,800 bags of fertilizer daily.
Commissioner for agriculture and natural resources Engineer Bukar Talba announced this after a tour of the factory in Maiduguri on Thursday.
“All arrangements are in place to start operation. The factory is now equipped with 275KVA power generator, the facility has the capacity to produce 1,800 bags per day ( 3 trucks)”
On some of the components of fertilizer that were banned by the federal government, because Boko Haram uses it for production of IEDs, the Commissioner assured that Borno fertilizer company will only produce Nitrogen Phosphorus and Photassium (NPK) components.
“BOFCO will be producing only NPK, which is a component of fertilizer that we have been given the permission to produce” said Engr. Talba
Talba had after going round and inspecting the factory directed the permanent secretary (BODSAP) Mohammed Habib Alkali, who took them round, to engage and train other personnels to Man the control room.
The commissioner expressed happiness over the near completion of work at the factory, and he directed the permanent secretary to write for any further requirements.
Governor Zulum’s Special Adviser on Agriculture, Alhaji Audu Ali Damasak was among those who accompanied the Commissioner on tour of the fertilizer factory.
