Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Saturday, March 11, 2023 governorship election in Akwa Ibom state; Mr. Uduak Udoh has promised the people and residents of Eket, Esit Eket, Ibeno and ONNA Local Government areas that if elected as governor, he would ensure that proceeds from the mineral and water resources, abundantly available in the area, would be judiciously used for their development and welfare.
Uduak Udoh, who was recently declared as governorship candidate of the party by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, made this known on Monday, February 6, while addressing crowd of supporters during a Campaign Rally tagged ‘New Era Road Show’ held across these LGAs.
The governorship hopeful while decrying what he termed as perennial neglect of the riverine oil-rich sections of the state by governments, averred that it costs any willing government nothing to use the God-given natural resources for the betterment of the people and environments.
The Uyo-born youthful Computer Scientist cum businessman, while addressing people separately at stopovers said “I want to thank you all for the love and support you have shown to me and the Labour Party. Let me thank you specifically for the resilience you exhibited during the February 25, Presidential and National Assembly elections.
I have seen the results and I know that you voted for our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi. Don’t be despaired about the results that were announced by INEC. Just know that we won the election and our Presidential Candidate will surely recover his mandate in the law court”.
Reiterating his resolve to be the ‘People’s Governor’ if elected, the Obong Idara Uyo noted “Come Saturday, March 11, you will have the opportunity to elect someone who will be your governor from May 29. Don’t ever make the mistake of electing those who have in one way or the other, been the reason for the underdevelopment of your area.
If you desire to have a People’s Governor, vote for me. If you vote for me, I and my deputy Charles Ebongho here; whom you all know, will never disappoint you. My deputy, your son, comes from here. He understands the problems of this area and together, we shall use the water and mineral resources of this area to develop and empower you.
“My government will bring closer to you, those amenities that would attract investors closer to you. Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts have good hotels. There’s Ibom Five Star Hotel in Uyo and Four Points by Sheraton in Ikot Ekpene. My government will build a befitting Five Star Hotel here in Eket Senatorial District.
You know, before you think of attracting investors to your area, first thing you consider is good hotel accommodation for them. Therefore, we will attract live touching Investments to Eket Senatorial District that will help develop and boost the economy of this area. It doesn’t cost government anything. All you need is a willing government. So, vote for me as your governor so that your son will also emerge as deputy governor”.
