“He showed me the master plan of Lagos and said if you put a goat as governor for the next 25 years, progress will happen to Lagos.”

During an open interview on Channels TV, Doyin Okupe, who had previously served as a presidential spokesperson, recalled his presidential campaign in 2020 under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He also mentioned that the PDP had predicted that Bola Tinubu would do well in the election if he were to get the nomination of the party.

He claimed that it had been seven years since he had last seen Tinubu and that they had a chance encounter at his house, where they had a talk that lasted for three hours.

According to him, Tinubu presented the master plan for the development of Lagos State, which impressed him with his vision and demonstrated his capacity for leadership.

He added that Tinubu contended that Lagos would enjoy progress for the next 25 years, even if a leader who was metaphorically incompetent were in power, because of the solid foundation that was created by the master plan.

He said, “On the 21st of March in 202, I was running for president under the PDP. And I said if Bola Tinubu wins the primaries, he will do well and perhaps he is going to be the second person to me. I have not seen Bola Tinubu in seven years. One day, I drove by Tinubu house and by coincidence there was nobody in the house, it was just him. We spoke for three hours, that was the day I changed my mind about Bola Tinubu. He showed me the master plan of Lagos and said if you put a goat as governor for the next 25 years, progress will happen to Lagos.”
