…as NUJ, Federated Chapel rounds-off 2021 Press Week

The Chairman Alert Nigeria and Akwa Ibom 2019 Gubernatorial Candidate, Mr. Iboro Otu, has disclosed that his partnership with the Russian, E. Force Company with a project peg of $250million to convert associated gas flared by Exxon Mobil to 150 Mega Watts electricity for Akwa Ibom State is on course.

He said that such intervention had become necessary given the widening gap in gas flaring for socio-economic gains adding that many opportunities are expected from there.

Otu made this known on Friday, 12th February 2021 during a Dinner/Award Night to round up the 2021 Press Week organized by the Federated Chapel, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council.

He also disclosed that enough space of land at Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State is secured for that purpose.

The London-trained entrepreneur called on Akwa Ibom State Government to support the ongoing project through an enabling environment while thanking the organizers of the events for coming up with such a relevant theme: “Managing plastic wastes/Gas flaring for sociology-economic gains is a perfect and unique theme. It goes to show the level of relevance, vision, and understanding its present leadership has for global and national socio-economic repositioning.

“Green technologies in plastic and gas waste can plug over a trillion dollars of funding when properly harnessed – and Akwa Ibom as the gas capital of West Africa with its largest gas reserve should forefront these ideas.

“I thank the organizers of this event for having us and sharing great ideas with us.

“We will continue to encourage and support journalistic independence as we will put in our best”.
