Executive Chairman, Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, Alh. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, has congratulated the new Oniru of Iru kingdom, Oba Gbolahan Lawal.

Oba Lawal, who was three-time Lagos Commissioner, was on Sunday crowned the 15th Oniru, succeeding late Oba Idowu Abiodun, who passed on last year at aged 82.

In a letter to the new monarch, which was made available to newsmen, Egunjobi congratulated Oba Lawal on his enthronement as the traditional ruler of the Eti-Osa Local Government area.

The Council chief, who described the former commissioner and police officer as ‘a friend and in-law in whom he is proud of’, expressed confidence in his ability to make Oniru a better place while ensuring peace and tranquillity reigned in the area.

The letter read in part: “I ‘m elated about your installation as the 15th Oniru of Iru Kingdom and have enormous belief that your reign will not only sustain the development in the area but take it to the next level.
