…Says His Footprints Of Service To Community, State and Nation Will Remain Indelible


The immediate past Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, Senator (Obong) Bassey Albert Akpan CON, (OBA) has said that the Late Chief Jerry Okpo has left behind worthy legacies spanning his family, community, State and Nation.

Senator Albert, speaking at the funeral service in honor of deceased held at Community Secondary School, Offi, Okobo LGA, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday, February 23, 2024, said the Late Okpo was a distinctive personality, someone who loved his people and lived his life towards the betterment of the society.

He said as an elder statesman, who participated actively in party politics with impactful contributions to development, the Late Okpo’s footprints of service to Oro community, Akwa Ibom State and the Nigerian Nation will remain indelible.

He commiserated with the deceased spouse, Mrs Arit Okpo and her family over the passage of their beloved husband and father and urged that his legacies be preserved.

He thereafter prayed to the Almighty God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

In his biography, the late Chief Jerry Okpo was described as a man who lived a life of selflessness, peace, love, generosity, and forthrightness.

He was also refered to “as a man of integrity, a colossus, an enigma, and a star in the real sense of the word.

“As a father, Chief Jerry Okpo was strict yet loving and caring. As a community leader, he made a lot of impact in his community; political and otherwise. As a businessman, he was successful and had many achievements with his signature boldly engraved on them,,” it was stated.

The funeral service was conducted by the Redemption Power Church, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

Late Chief Jerry Okpo (Nta Nta Oro) passed away at the age of 69 years.
