The Kwara State Government says it will provide a fire truck at Offa to prevent fire outbreaks in the community and it’s environs.
A statement today by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Modupe Joel, quoted the state the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, as saying this on Wednesday while visiting victims of fire incident at the market.

He expressed the Government’s dissatisfaction with fire incidents in different parts of the state, especially markets and pledged strong measures to counter the menace.

The Deputy Governor, who was in the company of Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Adisa Logun, was conducted around the affected part of the market by the Iyaloja, Hajia Idiat Ishola Yusuf.

Hajia Yusuf said the fire outbreak was as a result of an electric spark from a pole close to the shops. According to her, the fire razed 25 shops, including those belonging to provision store owners.

She said the fire outbreak started around 1 am and was put out about 4 am by the Kwara State Fire Fighters from Ilorin, the Nigeria Navy and members of the public.

She called on the Government to urgently assist victims of the fire outbreak.
