The Family of Late Lt Col. Bassey Ukpong Udo of Ikot Akpa Edet, Ndiya in Ikono local government area of Akwa Ibom state, regrets to announce the death of their matriarch, Late Mrs. Arit Bassey Ukpong, who passed on recently after a brief illness at the age of 80.
A release signed by Obong EdoAbasi Bassey Ukpong on behalf of the bereaved family shows that the late octogenarian was a retired secondary school teacher in different parts of Nigeria , a devout Christian and a respected community leader.
The statement adds that the deceased who is survived by seven children and several grandchildren hailed from the royal family of Obong Udo Bassey erstwhile clan head of Utit Obio in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
According to the release, Service of Songs and Funeral to be conducted by The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mega Parish, Ikot Ekpene, are slated for 5th and 6th February, 2021, respectively, at the deceased family residence, Midakem Homestead, Ikot Akpa Edet, Ndiya; while Thanksgiving Service is billed for February 7.
The release further notes that all the Covid-19 prevention protocols would be strictly observed during the events.
