The Federal Government and the Republic of Egypt have pledged to strengthen partnership for effective water resources management .

According to a statement signed by his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity; Terhemen Oraduen, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev stated this today in Abuja when the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria Mahamed Fauod paid him a courtesy call in his office.

Professor Utsev who acknowledged the cordial working relationship that has existed between the two countries for years and the spirit of brotherhood said the sustained partnership will enhance effective water resources management and boost irrigated agriculture .

The Minister informed the Egyptian Ambassador that he will be leading the Federal Government team to attend the forthcoming Cairo Water Conference holding in Egypt later this year during which both countries will demonstrate their practical knowledge and technical expertise for the two nations to learn from each other and improve on their water management and dam development .

Earlier, the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria Mahamed Fauod explained that the visit was to rekendle partnership between the two countries and to remind the Minister of the forthcoming Cairo Water Conference holding in Egypt saying the conference will avail the two nations the opportunity to sign MOUs on advanced technology being applied in water management while there will be other critical engagements between the two countries especially in the areas of scholarship for students from both countries in water management.
