..as Troost-Ekong’s brother, kinsmen cheer Super Eagles to victory

Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Hon. Uko Umoh has expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s victory over Angola in the quarter finals match played yesterday, thanking the people of Iman Ibom for their trust, support, and prayers.

The Chairman who bared his mind after the match at Etinan Roundabout where he had mounted a giant television screen for his people to watch the duel, also appreciated Etinanites for coming out en masse in support of the Super Eagles’ Captain, William Troost-Ekong.

Acknowledging the game of football as a uniting factor, the Council Boss hinted on leveraging on it to further unite his people and announced his resolve to stage the Semi-finals match live at same venue. Emphasizing the import of unity, Hon. Uko Umoh reiterated his commitment to bringing governance closer to the people.

Hon. Lawrencia Etuk, Secretary of the Council, in her reaction, appreciated the Chairman for his dedication to the people of Etinan. She urged the community to support the chairman in his efforts to bring about positive changes.

On his part, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Pastor Ubong Inyang expressed gratitude to his boss for fulfilling the dreams of the people and prayed for God’s continued blessings, strength and guidance in all his endeavors.

Also speaking at the viewing centre, a prominent indigene of the area, Elder Udo Ekwere, while noting that he was deeply moved by the resurgence of life in the the streets of Etinan, courtesy of Uko’s gestures, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his outstanding leadership. 

Acknowledging the positive impact that the Chairman’s initiatives have had on the local community, Elder Ekwere prayed for a sustained divine direction upon him.

Also speaking, a media guru and native of Etinan, Sampson Akpan a.k.a Politics Today declared “With you as the Chairman, things are getting better. Etinan is on the right direction. Mr. Chairman, your people are happy with you. Please, keep up the good works”.

Mr. Ekong Essien, senior brother to the Super Eagles’ Captain, William Troost-Ekong, lauded Chairman Umoh for the initiative, declaring the gathering as his best moment as an indigene of Etinan. Revealing that the joy that reflected in the crowd’s smiles made his day, Ekong expressed the hope that Etinan would flourish again.

Dr. Lamine Melo, the President of Cameroon Community in Akwa Ibom state, shared his surprise and admiration for the love, unity, and togetherness he witnessed amongst the people. Impressed by the clarity along Etinan-Uyo and Etinan-Onna Roads, he commended Chairman Umoh for fostering a sense of community development.
