…gives marching order on completion
The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Unyime Idem, has led other members of the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education Fund, TETFUND, to Niger state on an oversight function.
The Idem -led committee visited the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University , Lapai, Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru, Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State College of Education, Minna, and Federal College of Education Kontagora, all in Niger State, to investigate the alleged abuse of 2.3 Trillion naira generated as tertiary education tax by TETFUND from 2011 to date.
In his remarks, Unyime Idem commended Tetfund for the massive infrastructure cited in the institutions, and charged them to do more for the development of the country’s educational system.
After being led on a tour round projects funded by Tetfund, the lawmaker gave a marching order to the Education Trust Fund to complete all ongoing projects in institutions across the state within the stipulated contract agreement time.
The Ukanafun-born lawmaker also led the team on a courtesy visit on the Niger stage Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, who is his friend and was his colleague in the 9th National Assembly.
Governor Bago commended the TETFUND committee for the oversight visit to the state and tasked it to ensure that funds allocated for projects in institutions of higher learning in Niger state were judiciously used.
