The State Executive Committee of a sociopolitical organization known as Bridge Builders Initiative for Green Nigeria, BBIGN, has been inaugurated in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State with Hon Emmanuel Bassey as the State Coordinator. 

Also sworn into office by the group’s Legal Adviser, Clifford Thomas, Esq, on Saturday, June 12, 2021, were Mr. Nkereuwem Akpan, Deputy State Coordinator; Victor Nkanang, Esq, State Secretary and twenty six (26) other members of the State Executive of the Chapter.

The event which was held at the Uranus Hotel, Uyo, had in attendance the National and Zonal executives of the group.

Addressing the newly inaugurated State Executives, the National President of BBIGN Dr. Emmanuel Orgwu, who was represented at the occasion by the group’s National Vice President, Southeast, Hon. Austin Okezie, tasked them on hard work, commitment and steadfastness to the goals and aspirations of the group.

The President who bemoaned the current turmoils in Nigeria also advised the executives and members of BBIGN, Akwa Ibom State Chapter not to be part of a section of Nigerians spreading fake and baseless news in the country. He lamented that insecurity in Nigeria would have been minimized if citizens cultivated the habit of crosschecking stories and information especially, in the social media, before relying on, or spreading them.

He charged the group to be good ambassadors by focusing on issues that unite Nigeria, instead of divisive rumours, capable of setting the country on fire.

On his part, the National Vice President, South-south, Engr. Abasido Eshiet, while appreciating Akwa Ibom people for identifying with BBIGN, encouraged everyone to go into every nook and cranny to preach the gospel of the group and what it stands for.

He said “BBIGN is a national sociopolitical organization with chapters across the country. We believe in unity and one Nigeria. We believe in infrastructural development which is currently being championed by the President Buhari administration.

“Incidentally, the man in charge of the Ministry of Transportation is our amiable principal, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi, who has changed positively, the narrative of rail and road transportation infrastructures in Nigeria.

“The Honourable Minister for Transportation has been able to interpret the infrastructural intentions of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari; that is why we see railway network crisscrossing nearly every section of Nigeria, today.

“This has been the dreams of many Nigerians, and we are all happy seeing it coming to fruition in our lifetime. Therefore, it is the yearnings of the entirety of BBIGN membership to urge His Excellency, Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi to contest for the Presidency of Nigeria, come 2023.

We believe that the Honourable Minister has all it takes to continue from where President Buhari would stop so that in the nearest future, the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress, APC, would be implemented to the fullest”.

In his remarks, the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of BBIGN, Hon Emmanuel Bassey, thanked the national officers of the group for attending the event and pledged to work with his executives and members to achieve set targets.

The occasion also featured Paper Presentation on the topic: Peace, Security and National Unity by a renowned Activist any Contemporary Affairs’ Commentator, Mr. Aniekan Johnson.
