…as Ward Leader urges members to “Take Back The Party”
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Northern Iman 2 in Etinan LGA, on Saturday, held a highly anticipated ward meeting, following the recent local government elections in Akwa Ibom State. The gathering which was held at the Ward office, brought together party stalwarts, members, and stakeholders to reflect on the election outcomes and chart a new course.
In a passionate address, the Political Leader of the Ward, Pastor UduakAbasi Ikpat, urged members to “take back the party” and reassert their influence at the grassroots level. The leader emphasized the need for unity, mobilization, and active participation in party activities.
“We must reclaim our party’s lost glory,” Ikpat said. “It’s time to re-energize, re-strategize, and reposition ourselves for future victories.”
The Ward leader said that the unity of the party members is critical to its development, state and the country generally.
Ikpat, who is also the Secretary APC Reconciliation Committee in Akwa Ibom, expressed optimism that he would help reposition and revive the party ahead of 2027 general election.
Admitting that the Etinan chapter of the party had some challenges during the October 5 Local Government election, he said it was not time for its members to grumble, but a time to join efforts with leadership of the party at various levels as well as support the President Bola Tinubu-led administration in building a better society for all.
He said the unity and commitment of the APC’s members in ensuring the implementation of Tinubu’s Renewal Hope Agenda was critical to the country’s development.
The APC chieftain advised that when opposition political parties were doing everything to pull President Tinubu and the party down through negative propaganda, its members should remain committed to it.
He, therefore, called on the party’s members to be united in projecting the federal government’s policies and programmes in the interest of all.
He further called on Nigerians to continue to be patient with President Tinubu, adding that his economy programmes and policies maybe painful, it was all for the good of the country at the long run.
The APC chapter chairman in Etinan, Comrade Isreal Tommy who was accompanied to the meeting by the Chairmanship Candidate, Mr. Daniel Daniel thanked the Ward leader for carrying all members along in repositioning the party. He described him as a great asset who had proved himself in service to the party over the years.
The chairman asked members to unite and boldened the party’s political base ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to report, the meeting was in continuation of the party’s familiarity parley with stakeholders and members in the eleven wards of Etinan to reconcile and mobilise the people for future elections.
“Our coming to meet with the elders/ stakeholders and members of our great party is part of efforts across the 11 wards of Etinan local government area with a view to re-educate our members on the need for unity and togetherness, as well as party’s operational guidelines,’’ he said.
According to Comrade Tommy, it is necessary to check the activities of members, especially those who have either consciously or unconsciously engaged in some activities organised by some disgruntled elements within the party to cause disunity and rancour in the state.
It could be recalled that some members of the party had petitioned the SEC against the Isreal Tommy led exco, demanding for its sack.
Although their demand was not acknowledged, the chapter chairman said the act was insubordination to the party.
Attributing the activities of the acclaimed factional group to greed and impatience, he warned members against acts capable of disintegrating the party.
Tommy assured the members that APC in Etinan was intact and could not be divided by any selfish group because members were all working toward the same goal to deliver victory to the party.
“APC is like a big house and in every big house people struggle to get something, especially when the thing in question is good but limited to a few persons.
“Everybody cannot lead at the same time, we should learn to support our leaders with positive inputs that will move our great party forward,’’ he said.
Comrade Isreal Tommy also urged the members to adopt available mechanisms for dispute resolution rather than sponsor unguarded statement in the media as such was not in the interest of the party.
In the same vein, the APC chairmanship candidate in Etinan LGA, Mr. Daniel Daniel applauded the rapid growth of the party in Northern Iman Ward 2, Etinan chapter and the state at large.
It could be recalled that recently, the party has welcomed over 4,000 new members who defected from other parties to APC across the 11 Wards of Etinan local government area.
Daniel while thanking members of the party for their unflinching support during the October 5 LG election, said that the gesture was an indication of victory at the upcoming 2027 general elections and urged the members to remain committed to the party.
The Ward chairman, Elder Aniekan Sunday Akpan also urged the Party to take advantage of the ongoing registration exercise to register new members as well as revalidate their existing information.
Other stakeholders who spoke were Elder Aniefiok Akpan, Chairmanship aspirant; Comrade Micheal Ekpe(Mike Lion), State Vice Women’s Leader (Uyo Senatorial District), Obonganwan Patience Anako, Hon. Itoro Matthew, Elder Enefiok Akpan respectively, all thanked members of the party for working assiduously for the success of the party in the area.
They promised to join hands together and ensure that the party is energized to be able to win overwhelmingly in 2027.
