The newly elected Zonal Ex-Officio of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Southwest Zone, Otunba Segun Adewale Aeroland, has expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Seyi Makinde for his fatherly role which he said has helped to sustain peace and unity of the party in the Southwest zone.
Otunba Segun, who emerged victorious at the just concluded zonal Congress of the PDP, stated this in his Thank You Message to the leaders of the party, his Campaign Team, teeming supporters and indeed, all stakeholders and members of the party in the region.
The Zonal Ex-Officio-elect, while thanking everyone for their peaceful conduct during the polls, said: “Let me start by thanking God Almighty who made our congress seamless and very peaceful in all ramifications. Despite the tense atmosphere that preceded the election, God took control of the situation, miraculously while the election was ongoing, our leaders came together and embraced peace.
My special appreciation to our leader in South West, Governor Seyi Makinde for being a father to all, and for ensuring that we are all brought tactically under one umbrella, may God continue to guide and bless him
“I must thank our former House of Reps member from Ajeromi Ifelodun, Hon Rita Orji, for her unflinching support, and for reaching out to me to join Governor Seyi Makinde team, to work to liberate our great party, the PDP, from from the claws of unpopular APC in South West.
“I equally wants to appreciate Hon Shadimu from Oshodi Isolo 1, Members of the House of Reps from Lagos, Hon Oghene Emma Egoh, and Hon Olatunji Shoyinka from Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon Tajudeen Obasa from Ojoo, voting for Lagos tickets at the Zonal Congress and for considering backing my aspiration to be the Zonal Ex-officio. Thank you Mr Wale Gomez for the financial and moral support you gave me.
“Although, some few folks opined that I am too big for such position, my simple reply to them is that, no position is too small or big when there is a need to revamp and reposition our party. If we don’t have a strong party, even if I put in myself for a position of Nigeria’s President, we all know how it will end. So, we must all join hands at this critical time to rebuild PDP to become strong, robust and winning party once again.
“Chief Olabode George, you are a great leader who have always sacrificed to ensure that our party keep moving in the right direction. Most times, people misunderstood you, but you have proven again that you have undying love for our party’s progress when you agreed that the name of your candidate for the position I now occupied be dropped to allow me, I appreciate you our Atona Odua.
“To my team, Prince Laja Adeoye, Dare Dada, Dapo, Ajiga Idowu, Anjos Babatunde, and the entire Alimosho Local Government crew, I thank you for standing by me, networking and working behind the scene to ensure we emerge victorious. I thank you all.
Now, to my lovely supporters across Lagos, and Nigeria who supported me through their wishes and prayers, I say a very big thank you. Your prayers and moral support mean so much to me, God will continue to elevate us, someday, we will do great things together.
I want to thank all Lagos and the entire delegates for considering me worthy of this position, I am so proud of you, surprisingly, even those we have had political differences had to set their grouse aside and ensured that I emerge. You are all great men and women of honor.
In the words of our leader, Gov Makinde, in this election, we are all winners, no loser.
Finally, I must say that the work have started, this is the time for all members of the party, not just the executives alone, to roll up their sleeves because we must support the vision and aspirations of our leader, Gov Seyi Makinde’s quest to see PDP returning as the ruling party across South West and Nigeria in general, so, no matter how low or high the position I occupied, I am 100% keying into this vision. May God help us”
