…two women dead, others injured 

Eyewitness accounts have revealed the cause of stampede during the procession of Christ The King Catholic Church (CKC), Aba, Abia state which led to the death of two women while many sustained various degrees of injuries.

According to reports, the incident which occured on November 25th, 2024 as a congregational procession took a different turn due to the police involvement.

Reports indicate that the women fell to their deaths after security personnel blocked the entrance to the venue, where a large crowd had gathered for the event.

It was gathered that following the stampede, the injured victims including two unconscious women were taken to Mendel Hospital in Aba, but unfortunately, it was too late as the two women, whose full identities were not disclosed as at press time, succumbed to the death.

It was not clear as at press time why the police blocked the entrance, while refusing all entreaties to rescind their decision.
