The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency, Rep. Unyime Idem, on Thursday night scooped another award in far away United States of America, following his sterling performance as member of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

This time, the award came from Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria USA Inc (AKISAN), at its ongoing 2023 convention, holding in San Diego, California, USA.

The Board of Trustees of AKISAN, had in a letter in July, 2023, signed by the BOT chairman, Bobby Onofiok, and secretary, Lady Nkoyo Ekpo, notified the top performing legislator that the organization chose him for the award, having judiciously followed his activities as a federal lawmaker.

According to the letter addressed to Rep. Unyime Idem, the highly
coveted Ibom Pride Award of Excellence, “is bestowed on those that have achieved a high level of success in their respective fields or careers and have demonstrated interest towards the betterment of Akwa Ibom State.”

“The Ibom Pride Award serves to encourage others, especially young Akwa Ibomites to aspire to be the best in whatever they do. Recipients are recognized as role models and sources of inspiration to the next generation.

The Ukanafun-born lawmaker, who’s currently leading an ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives to investigate alleged abuse of 2.3 trillion naira generated as tertiary education tax by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, across the country, was represented at the Awards ceremony by the chairman of Ukanafun local government council, Hon. Pst. Godwin Inyieng.

The House Committee chairman on Public Procurement has received multiple awards from leading organizations, following his exceptional representation and sterling service delivery to his constituents, state and the nation.

Idem, between 2019 and 2023, has presented 26 motions and 22 bills on the floor of the Green Chamber and has embarked on numerous life touching projects in his constituency and empowerment of thousands of his Ukanafun/Oruk Anam constituents.
