Barely few days in office, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Hon Ekpuk Eshiet has inundated the Council Secretariat with a myriad of activities, reforms and reconstructions.

Firstly, to set the ball rolling, the Chairman inaugurated and assiged portfolios to Members of the Transition Committee as follows; Supervisor for Works, Hon Aniekan Dan, Supervisor for Health, Dr Alphonsus Ekanem, Supervisor for Special Duties, Hon Godson Effiong Akpan, Supervisor for Revenue, Trade and Investment, Hon Margaret Udotong, Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon Nkereuwem F. Abara and Supervisor for Education, Youth and Sports, Hon Unyime Udoidiong.

Others were, Supervisor for Information and Strategy, Pastor Pentecost Paul Udo, Special Adviser Cooperative, Hon Eno Monday Akpan, Special Adviser Political Affairs, Hon Ime George Usoro, Supervisor for Utility, Community and Urban Development, Hon Enobong E Wednesday, Special Adviser Internal Security, Sampson Udoudo Akpaowo, Special Adviser Religious Matters, Pastor Raphael Silas Obot and Special Adviser Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Kufre Isaac Udiong

The Chairman later flagged off Road grading along Old Obo Market/Ikot Edet Road, followed by inspections to dilapidated health infrastructures within Etim Ekpo with a view to rehabilitating them, chiefest amongst which were, Health Centre, Obong Ntak, Chief Matthew Udo Ekpo Memorial Health Centre and other critical health facilities.

Subsequently, the Chairman alongside his team embarked on inspection of bad spots along Etim Ekpo – Iwukem Road to ascertain the level of damage on the road by gully erosion, towards finding remedial and lasting measures to restore the road.

In the same vein, he visited the Ultra Modern Motor Park, assuring of completion of the project for the park to commence business, towards generating revenue for the council.

To ensure there’s light in the Local Government, the Chairman ordered immediate repairs of Stepdown Transformer at Obo Community, Nto Unang, and a major repair of Utu Etim Ekpo (Urban) Transformer, with renewed hope for constant light in the communities.

Encouraging sports development in the Local Government Area, Hon Ekpuk Eshiet attended novelty football match between Uruk Ata Ikot Isemin and Nkwot Ikono at Government Primary School, Uruk Ata Ikot Isemin, where he encouraged players with cash donations and trophies.

Elder Eshiet maximized the moment, admonishing the Youths to shun anti social vices, rather engage themselves in meaningful ventures that will make them useful to both themselves and the community.

Towards changing the aesthetics of the Council, thereby giving it a new facelift, the Chairman supervised grass clearing around the entire secretariat, as well as, repainting of offices, pledging to constantly keep the Council neat and clean, changed front and outer doors at the Council Hall to beef security and prevent hoodlums from gaining access to the Council Hall.

The working Chairman, has equally engineered major repairs of toilet facilities and reticulation of water in the Council Secretariat to ensure water flows and functions optimally in the Secretariat.

On Friday, while gracing the funeral service in honour of Late Dcns Mary Asuquo Ekanem who was aged 86, at Esa Atan, Ikot Ekpene LGA, he attended the 65th Marriage Anniversary of Prof Moses Akpanudo, Founder, Obong University, crowning it all with inspection of internal road grading within Etim Ekpo LGA.

Assuming office as Chairman, the former AKISIEC Board Member has exemplified leadership, exuding unusual quantum of energy and commitment towards regiging the economic, political and social ecosystems of Etim Ekpo LGA in line with his transformational agenda, towards keying into the Arise Agenda of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

The Chairman, within a few days in office has demonstrated unparalleled courage at engendering change, uniting the people and fostering political inclusivity in the area.

Within few days, he has been nick named the peoples Chairman, with unusual aggressiveness, willingness and readiness to institute transformational programs at many fronts in Etim Ekpo.
