The Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festivals kicks off today Wednesday 11 March, 2020 with quiz competition, Archery, catapulting, donkey and camel racing as well as polo tournament.

The events had in attendance the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammed Mera, who is also the custodian of the festival.

Others were, members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Chief of State Government House, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammed Argungu (Jarman Kabi), Members of the Stat Executive Council, Politicians, Local Government Chairmen Traditional rulers, Captains of Industries, Tourist from within and outside Nigeria.

Participants for the archery and catapulting competitions were drawn from Argungu, sokoto, Anka, Kano, Minna, Yobe, Katsina as well as Benin and Niger republics.

In his speech, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the significant of the Argungu Fishing Festival is that it draws participants from not only Kebbi state, Argungu but across Nigeria and neighbouring Benin and Niger Republics.

‘’It states the essentials of leaders not only in Nigeria but across Africa’’

He commended Kebbi state Government and Argungu Emirate for their efforts to revive and organize such a festival.
