Indigenes of Akwa Ibom State have taken the state governor; His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to the cleaners for allegedly paying lip service to Education Sector in the state. The infuriated Akwa Ibomites who took to their various social media platforms to express their ill-feelings, called out the state governor for allegedly failing to give the education system in the state a facelift.

Our paper gathered that students of the famous Four Towns Secondary School, located on Abak Road in the heart of Uyo, the State Capital were caught on camera sitting on bare floor to write examinations on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Reacting, indigenes of the state who described the development as an exposure of the unimaginable decay in the education system also noted that it is an embarrassment to the state and her people.

In one of the WhatsApp platforms – People’s Voice monitored by our Reporter, Effiong Japheth said “God has exposed and shamed our governor who claims that he has done much in the education sector. He should come out to tell us what he’s been using our money for. Till date, he has not accounted for the missing 13% Derivation arrears Refunds from the Federal government. This is revelation Chapter 1”.

Another citizen; Ekpo R. who reacted on Media Connect WhatsApp Platform said “indeed, this is a shame. No wonder the level of education in Akwa Ibom State continues to reduce. I remember during Attah’s administration when we used to have free textbooks books shared to students in this state.

Today, there’s no such thing and we keep wondering what the future holds for our present-day students. No assessment records in schools. Teachers are not paid their due entitlements. No desks… nothing! Yet the incumbent governor is imposing a successor on the people. We shall see how the victims of the decaying education system shall vote for him”.
